Piden justicia en la salud

NYLPI filed a civil rights complaint with the New York State Office of the Attorney General on behalf of Bronx Health REACH, a community-based coalition in the Bronx whose mission is to end racial and ethnic disparities in health care. The complaint alleges that 3 major academic medical centers in Manhattan and the Bronx segregate patients based on the type of insurance they have: Medicaid patients are treated in hospital-based clinics while privately insured patients are seen in "faculty practices," where they receive better continuity and quality of care. The complaint also alleges that the separation of patients in this manner has a disparate impact on the basis of race and national origin.
