Success: Court Finds in Favor of Strong School Clean-Ups . . .

In October 2008, NYLPI and Weil, Gotshal & Manges prevailed in a lawsuit in state court against the School Construction Authority and the City on behalf of the Bronx Committee for Toxic Free Schools. The suit challenged the sufficiency of the environmental review at a site in Mott Haven, a severely contaminated property on which the city is planning to build four schools. More recently, NYLPI - working with the Bronx Borough President’s Office - secured commitments from the School Construction Authority to safely remove “hot spots” that our experts had identified.
