Access-A-Ride vehicle in New York

The Access-A-Ride Reform Group (AARRG!), of which NYLPI is a founding member, urged NYC Transit to change its policy concerning round-trip Access-A-Ride (AAR) service during this voting season. Instead of requiring AAR riders to wait up to two hours for a return trip, AAR instead should offer trips to and from the polls in the same vehicle and have the vehicle wait while the riders vote. Alternatively, NYC Transit should offer “on-demand” service for the return trip which would allow riders to call for a ride once they are finished voting and a vehicle would arrive within 15 minutes. AARRG! noted the critical nature of this request, which would permit AAR riders to more easily and safely fulfill their civic duty.
