Access-A-Ride vehicle in New York

THE CITY reports: The reliability of the MTA’s Access-A-Ride service has sunk to its lowest level in years, even as ridership has returned to almost 80% of pre-COVID totals.

On-time performance is rapidly declining as a result of driver shortages and increased traffic, interrupting essential services for many New Yorkers with disabilities.

NYLPI’s Access-a-Ride Organizer Eman Rimawi said:

“I’ve been on hold so long with the call center at times that I was like, ‘Ok, fine, I guess I’m not going anywhere,’ It can feel like an impossible situation.”
