Suhali Méndez, NYLPI policy and legislative coordinator, was featured in an amNY story about the New York City Council’s education budget hearing highlights. Suhali shared testimony about why the city council should fund staffing of licensed mental health evaluation providers:
“Schools serve an important role in meeting not only our children’s educational needs, but also their social-emotional demands. Overall, there is a significant deficit in mental health services for students with disabilities in New York City’s schools.”
