Anthony Karefa Rogers-Wright, NYLPI Director of Environmental Justice, testified before the New York State Senate Committees on Finance, Energy and Telecommunications, and Environmental Conservation regarding the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and the Climate Action Council Final Scoping Plan.

Anthony’s testimony focused on serious concerns regarding Gov. Hochul’s inclusion of hydrogen combustion in the Scoping Plan. He cited the important environmental justice work of NY Renews, PEAK Coalition, NY City Environmental Justice Alliance, UPROSE, The Point CDC, and WE ACT.

“We have an Environmental Rights Amendment which does guarantee all New Yorkers clean air, clean water and healthful environment… I think it’s really important to point out that one of the biggest proponents of the hydrogen combustion is arguably one of the biggest culprits of the climate crisis, the fossil-fuel industry, who are more concerned with increasing profits, unfortunately, than reducing emission.”
