Ruth Lowenkron, NYLPI’s director of Disability Justice, was featured on CBS News NY in a segment about mental health in New York City titled “Jordan Neely’s death brings more scrutiny to New York City’s mental health crisis.”
In a speech this week, Adams stressed that the city has a Mobile Crisis Team, including social workers, that can arrange for people… to be taken to a hospital, in some cases, against their will.
“That coercive nature builds resistance and an ‘I’ll-stay-away-from-services-even-if there-are-services’ kind of an approach,” said Ruth Lowenkron, director of [NYLPI’s] Disability Justice Program.
