Karina speaks at the Transplant Equity rally at City Hall.

NYLPI’s Karina Albistegui Adler and New York City Councilmembers Mercedes Narcisse and Lynn Schulman were featured in a story in El Diario regarding the need for equity in organ transplants for all New Yorkers, especially underserved communities, and the new bill that would introduce an office to better regulate transplant care.

“Navigating our fragmented healthcare system when you are so sick that you need an organ transplant to survive is difficult enough, but doing so in the face of racialized bias and unnecessary administrative barriers at the point of care is nearly impossible. This bill will help ensure that New Yorkers with chronic illnesses can thrive in their communities and get back to where they want to be: at home and in their workplaces.” – Karina Albistegui Adler
