Caribbean Equality Project 2024 Pride Event

NYLPI was honored to be a part of the Caribbean Equality Project’s 2024 Pride community event at Apicha Community Health Center: “Housing is a Human Right” A Know Your Rights Discussion on Housing, Immigration and Health. The June 25, 2024 program featured a panel discussion, resource fair, community dinner, and performing arts as an act of resilience.

The NYLPI team participated in the Know Your Rights panel and distributed materials on access to healthcare for TGNC immigrants and people living with HIV, as well as immigration legal resources.

The event highlighted the socio-economic barriers Queer and Trans people face when seeking safe and affirming housing, immigration services, and healthcare and also highlighted the strength of diverse Trans and Non-binary communities of color, including Afro and Indo-Caribbean immigrants.
