Pride Is Still a Protest – Fighting to Live and Thrive as LGBTQIA+ Migrants

In commemoration of Pride Month, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI), Equality New York (EQNY), Caribbean Equality Project (CEP), Queer Detainee Empowerment Project (QDEP), and Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) are hosting “Asylum is a Human Right: Fighting to Live and Thrive as LGBTQ+ Migrants,” a panel discussion and community event focusing on LGBTQ+ immigrants.

The conversation will center around themes of migration, struggles of accessing legal services, trans-affirming healthcare, housing, and justice for LGBTQ+ immigrant New Yorkers. Speakers and organizational leaders will share their lived experiences through oral and visual storytelling and community talent. The free community program will uplift the voices of impacted LGBTQIA+ community members, who will share stories of challenges, resiliency, joy, and generative ideas for change in connection with their experiences of seeking asylum and living in New York.

En conmemoración de Pride, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI), Equality New York (EQNY), Caribbean Equality Project (CEP), Queer Detainee Empowerment Project (QDEP), y Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) están organizando “El asilo es un derecho humano: luchar para vivir y prosperar como migrantes LGBTQ+”, un panel de discusión y un evento comunitario centrado en los inmigrantes LGBTQ+.
