“They Can Donate But They Can’t Receive”, a new report authored by NYLPIMake the Road NY, and the New York Immigration Coalition, documents the many barriers immigrants face to receiving life-saving organ transplants in New York and outlines immediate steps legislators and health care systems can take to save lives and save money.

All three organizations are members of Coverage For All, a statewide coalition fighting to create statewide health insurance for New Yorkers who are excluded from eligibility for coverage because of their immigration status.

NYLPI and coalition partners hosted a launch event at City Hall Park on May 11, 2023. The full press release about the launch event, including quotes from elected officials and health justice advocates, can be found here. Copies of the new report are available in English and Spanish on the NYLPI Transplant Equity campaign page here.
