Dr. Diaz and NYLPI provided key information regarding the worsening medical neglect and human rights abuses taking place within detention facilities, especially in Orange County Correctional Facility, located in Goshen, New York. Together, they urged the City Council to support NY State legislation, the Dignity Not Detention Act and to support a resolution calling on the NY State legislature and the Governor to sign the Act and reduce the physical and emotional harm caused by detention and interactions with the immigration enforcement system.
