NY Renews Supports the NY Heat Act For Cleaner Heat and Lower Bills

As a steering committee member of the NY Renews coalition, NYLPI calls on Governor Hochul and the Legislature to fund shovel-ready green infrastructure and resilience projects in this year’s budget and pass critical bills including the NY HEAT Actthe Climate Change Superfund Act, and the Just Energy Transition Act which would save utility ratepayers money, speed the transition to renewable energy, and require the largest polluters to pay their fair share to clean up the massive damage to infrastructure and property currently borne by taxpayers and homeowners across the state.

Governor Kathy Hochul included components of the NY HEAT Act in her executive budget but left out critical affordability measures that would protect families burdened by high energy bills.
