NYLPI Joins Medical Advocacy Partners to Demand the Biden Administration End Immigration Detention Within First 100 Days in Office

January 20, 2021

Health Justice, Immigrant Justice, News

This week, NYLPI, including NYLPI’s Medical Providers Network, joined our immigrant and health justice partners to call on the Biden Administration to end the terror and abuse inflicted upon immigrant communities in the United States of America by an immigration system that is fundamentally flawed.

We believe this is the time to dismantle the deportation machine and reverse the horrors that were unleashed from the Trump Administration over the past four years. NYLPI stands together with our partners and impacted community members to respectfully demand this new administration take swift and executive action to end all family incarcerations in the United States, release all individuals with underlying health conditions which would place them at risk of serious complications or death from continued confinement in immigration detention facilities and jail, and order an immediate end to ICE raids in our American communities.

As our new president is inaugurated today, our nation begins a new chapter. We are hopeful that President Joseph R. Biden Jr. will listen to the people and will take the appropriate actions to correct our nation’s course and lead the United States to become a place where families and individuals can find a better life, without the fear of incarceration, deportation and persecution.
