NYLPI Joins NYAPRS and Advocates To Rally For 8.5% COLA and Alternatives to Hospitalization

March 13, 2023

Baerga v. City of New York, CCIT-NYC, Community Justice, Disability Justice, Health Justice, Immigrant Justice, Media Coverage, News, Transforming Mental Health Crisis Response

NYLPI joins advocates, legislators and people with lived experience of mental health from Association for Community Living, Center for Community Alternatives, Community Access, Fountain House, The Mental Health Association of New York State, NAMI-NYC, New York Association on Independent Living and VOCAL-NY, among others, on the steps of the capitol to rally for mental health reform for NYAPRS’ 26th Annual Legislative Day in Albany.

We join NYAPRS in calling for a critically needed 8.5% COLA along with funding for proven, viable alternatives to incarceration, hospitalization, and homelessness that have been shown to improve engagement and outcomes for New Yorkers with major mental health, addiction, and trauma related conditions, including a transformed mental health crisis response system, for which NYLPI has been advocating for over six years.
