Karina Albistegui Adler, NYLPI senior health advocate, testified before the Joint Legislative Public Hearing on the 2023 Executive Budget Proposal: Topic Health/Medicaid. Karina stressed the severity of access to medical coverage for uninsured and undocumented New Yorkers.

“For my clients, this is actually a life or death situation. Most of my clients find themselves in dire situations every day, where choosing between paying for their food or medication, or between working while they’re feeling sick, is a stark reality. While emergency Medicaid does cover their dialysis… they must pay upwards of $200 a month in prescription costs.” – Karina Albistegui Adler
