September 8, 2023Baerga v. City of New York, Disability Justice, Health Justice, Media Coverage, News, Transforming Mental Health Crisis Response
The Daniel’s Law Taskforce was featured in PoliticoPro’s New York Healthcare newsletter. The task force, named for Daniel Prude, includes advocates and peers, and will be monitored by the Daniel’s Law Coalition, of which NYLPI is a member.
“It is high time that New York transform its mental health and substance use crisis reform system to remove police as first responders, and substitute highly trained peer. We call on the task force to act swiftly and center the role of peers as responders, as set forth in Daniel’s Law.” – Ruth Lowenkron, director of Disability Justice, NYLPI
