A Naturalization Clinic in NY

On June 25, volunteer attorneys from large law firms joined NYLPI for a hybrid naturalization clinic to assist long-time green card holders on their path to citizenship. The clinic, part of the long-standing relationship between NYLPI and Catholic Migration Services, assists clients in gathering necessary documents and completing application forms. Attorneys and legal staff joined us from Akin Gump Strauss Haver & Feld LLPFried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP; and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Since 2015, CMS and NYLPI, alongside pro bono attorneys, have assisted nearly 1000 clients with their naturalization applications and fee waivers. Projects such as our Naturalization partnership with CMS allow nonprofits to expand the number of clients they can serve and encourage in-house expertise in niche legal matters within participating law firms.
