Health Insurance and Immigration Status in New York
Disability Justice, Health Justice, News
The Health Justice team is excited to share our new resource on Health Insurance and Immigration Status in New York. Noncitizen and immigrant New Yorkers often face barriers to access the medical care they need. Even those with health insurance may be denied medical care based on misinformation and misunderstanding the differences between immigration status and insurance eligibility. NYLPI’s clients have faced unnecessary barriers to care based on their immigration status alone. NYLPI has supported clients navigate these complicated systems and advocated for them to receive the life-saving care to which they are entitled. We are eager to share this resource to provide guidance to frequently asked questions around insurance eligibility and the right to access care. NYLPI is committed to advancing immigrant justice and access to health coverage for all New Yorkers.
