Riverdale Press: Small Price to ‘Transform Transit’

Recently in The Riverdale Press, Access-A-Ride Campaign Coordinator and Organizer Eman Rimawi stressed the importance of improving accessibility on the subways as New York City opens further. The article points out that increasing the number of accessible subway stations will support not only people with disabilities, but also senior citizens, people with strollers, and people with delivery carts. As Rimawi said during the Transform Transit rally in early June, “as New York City recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic engine that is the subway system must be fully accessible to all riders…Now is the time for the federal government to support New York City’s recovery by providing funding to the MTA necessary to ensure essential accessibility improvements and maintenance programs can continue.”
