NYLPI’s Disability Justice DirectorRuth Lowenkron, testified on April 6 at an oversight hearing by the New York City Council Committee on Mental Health, Disabilities, and Addiction regarding Access to Mental Health Care in Communities of Color. Lowenkron advised the Committee on the numerous problems posed by the City’s proposed pilot to alter its mental health crisis response, urged the Council not to pass Int. 2210 given its multiplicity of problems regarding mental health crisis response, and urged the Council to adopt the mental health crisis response proposal proposed by Correct Crisis Intervention Today – NYC, of which NYLPI is a member.
