Post-Graduate Legal Fellow

Emily Hodgkins is Post-Graduate Legal Fellow in NYLPI’s Health Justice Program. She will be working with the UndocuCare team to reconcile the worlds of immigration and public benefits for uninsured and undocumented New Yorkers who are survivors of domestic violence. Emily received her J.D. from NYU School of Law, where she spent a year in the Reproductive Justice Clinic working on projects focused on healthcare access and sex education. She also volunteered with the Domestic Violence Advocacy Project (DVAP) and Research, Education, and Advocacy to Combat Homelessness (REACH). During her final semester, she was a Pro Bono Scholar, doing both systemic and direct services work at Disability Rights New York on their Protection and Advocacy for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PADD) team. Emily previously interned at Bet Tzedek Legal Services’ Medical-Legal Partnership (Los Angeles, CA) and Sidley Austin LLP (New York, NY). Prior to law school, she worked as a legal assistant in Los Angeles. Emily earned her B.A. in History from the University of Southern California in 2016.
