
Sonya Chung
Staff Attorney
Sonya Chung is a staff attorney in the Environmental Justice Program at New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, where she works towards a more equitable and sustainable city by fighting against environmental injustice through NYPI's campaigns with partner communities. Prior to joining NYLPI, Sonya worked as an Immigrant Justice Corps Justice Fellow at the Minkwon Center for Community Action in Flushing, New York. In that role, she represented low-income Asian immigrant communities in their immigration matters and advocated for immigrant rights. Sonya brings intersectional experience in community-based lawyering within immigrant communities to her new role in advocating for environmental justice communities. Sonya received her J.D. from the New York University School of Law and her B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin.
