The City: Eman Rimawi-Doster Speaks Out Against Access-a-Ride Assessments

NYLPI’s Access-a-Ride Campaign Coordinator and Organizer Eman Rimawi-Doster spoke out against in-person eligibility requirements to qualify for Access-a-Ride paratransit. In-person assessments are costly and time-consuming, can create more barriers to receiving crucial transportation access, and put the applicant in a potentially degrading position.

Rimawi-Doster spoke in favor of remote options:

“You submit a letter, you submit your documents and whatever documentation you can provide and then you can meet with them on the phone or just online,” said Rimawi-Doster. “And it works just as fine.”
